The Holland America Veendam was an elegant luxury cruise ship. The classic ambience was well-suited to the older fans of these voyages. It has been retired from the fleet.
The Veendam was grandly proportioned and designed to carry fewer guests than other cruise ships in its class, the ship offered guests an onboard experience defined by spacious comfort. A two-tiered dining room with grand sweeping staircase. Suites had private verandahs for private dining, relaxing and sunning. Multiple lounges provided entertainment. The Crow's Nest lounge was the late-night hangout and dance spot.
There were two swimming pools and a fitness center for exercise of all types. The spa and salon were ready to pamper you. A wide teak deck afforded ample room for strolling and deck chairs for those who wished to sit and watch the sea roll by.
